Hello, I’m Chi (Chi-Kang Pai), a researcher in the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology at Harvard University. In The Yu Lab, working with Prof. Kun-Hsing Yu, I develop AI-driven pathology imaging models and agents to predict gene mutations, interpret biomarkers, and optimize patient-enrollment workflows in clinical studies.

I earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University, where I focused on photonics, signal processing, and machine learning. I studied reinforcement learning with Shao-Hua Sun, physics-informed ML and optics with Guoyang Li, and photonics and microscopy with Shih-Wei Chu.

Beyond science, I’m interested in how businesses work and create impact. I joined McKinsey’s scholar program and completed BCG’s course Strategy Consulting: Approach and Practice.

Software Engineering

In high school, I won a gold medal at the IPhO 2017. During university, I taught physics, organized training camps, and conducted physics research. After illness in my family, I pivoted toward building technologies with real-world impact, especially those that accelerate biomedical discovery.

Outside the lab, I enjoy movies, listening to jazz, entomology, traveling, reading, and writing.
